Back from Copenhagen: Energized and Focused on What Works
Ready to turn insights into impact? Our regular leadership and cultural development series resumes this week.
We're back from the Academy of Management's 85th Annual Meeting, and the contrast couldn't be sharper. Being immersed in the latest management research has crystallized something important: the gap between academic insight and organizational reality remains vast, and that's exactly where our work matters most.

What We Learned
Copenhagen delivered precisely what we hoped for: a clear view of where management theory excels and where it falls short in practical application. We encountered brilliant research on psychological safety, innovative frameworks for cultural transformation, and compelling data on leadership effectiveness. We also witnessed the familiar pattern of solutions that sound elegant in conference halls but crumble under the weight of organizational complexity.
Our takeaway isn't cynicism—it's clarity. The best research points toward actionable principles, but implementation requires the kind of practical translation that bridges academic rigor with real-world messiness.
Returning to Our Core Mission
Starting this week, we're resuming our regular schedule of leadership and cultural development updates with renewed focus. Our Copenhagen observations have sharpened our perspective on three critical areas:
Leadership Development That Sticks: Moving beyond awareness-building to behavior change that persists under pressure. We've identified specific practices that research validates and organizations can sustain.
Cultural Evolution, Not Revolution: The conference reinforced our conviction that lasting cultural change happens through consistent, small-scale interventions rather than dramatic overhauls. We'll be sharing frameworks that acknowledge this reality.
Implementation Science: We're doubling down on the how, not just the what. Every leadership principle we discuss will include specific steps for organizational adoption and measurement.

What's Coming Next
Our regular updates will now carry the weight of what we observed in Copenhagen—both the promising innovations and the persistent blind spots. We're committed to translating the most valuable academic insights into immediately applicable guidance while calling out the gaps that theory hasn't yet filled.
The energy from connecting with 10,000 fellow practitioners and researchers has reminded us why this work matters. Organizations need leadership development approaches that develop leaders and cultural initiatives that genuinely shift culture. The academic world provides the foundation; our role is building the bridge to implementation.
We're back, we're focused, and we're ready to tackle the practical challenges of developing leaders and cultures that thrive in complexity.
